The 8 Minute Microwave Pasta Hack – How to make Pasta FAST!

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

How to make pasta fast in the Microwave

This is not gourmet in the very least, and I’m almost embarrassed to put this up on the site. But when you are feeding a fickly family there is a certain level of appreciation for finding really quick, really simple hacks that make your life easier.  Especially mornings. Ugh…some mornings…..

Enter the “8 Minute Microwave Pasta Hack”, discovered by my 13 year old daughter on Tik Tok of all places, for when you need to make pasta fast and get the kids out the door. This has become one of our go to’s for disorganized, rushed mornings, or quick “I’m starving!!!” after school snacks.

It’s also a great side dish for when you need to add something a bit carb-y for the kids to an otherwise healthy, low carb meal. Just put some noodles, water and a pinch of salt in a bowl, throw it in the microwave, and walk away.  No waiting for the water to boil, no colander or pot to wash, no stirring or waiting for the timer to go off.  Just walk away and let it do it’s thing.  When its done,  mix in your favourite sauce such as a scoop or frozen cube of pesto, some jarred tomato sauce, or simply butter and parmesan.  Even better with some leftover Bolognese.  Easy button pushed. Win.

If your kids are a bit older, they need to know how to make this for themselves.  No stove, no mess and damn fast any time of day, especially when a growth spurt hits and nothing short of a creamy rich bowl of pasta will hit the spot.  One more step towards independence, and that is always a win in my house!
